Revitalization project of Cheonan Three-way Intersection
Republic of Korea Cheonan, 2018~¿¹Á¤

DESCRIPTION

¡° Cheonan Samgeoli Heung¡± is a phrase from old folk song. ¡°Heung (ýé) is an expression of feelings that make fun or pleasure happen. Another meaning of ¡° Heung (?)¡± is fragrance. Cheonan Three-way Intersection is a significant junction where Hanyang (old name of Seoul), Gyeongsang province and Jeolla Province converge. The place has long kept its beautiful stories of weeping willows and Heung Taryong (a folksong with a ¡°hum¡± at the end of each line). Segallae-gil (three-way road) is proposed to revive nostalgic memories of the old three-way intersection. The intent is to circulate people around networks with pedestrian oriented paths inside and outside the park. Through the story of the land, the design team proposes to evoke memories of the past spaces and landscapes. Utilizing axes and old path ways its objectives was to create unique juxtapositions and dynamic actions from memory of earth, present values, and visions of the future.
